The time has arrived for getting the Boats back into the water,
exciting after a very long lockdown, but only if safe.
Talking of safe we must all make sure the Trailer going to the waters edge is in a really good condition and safe.
We always send out the message of maintaining your Trailer, getting Regular Service and are check the tyres good?
Has the Handbrake been left on?
Were the wheels and hubs wet when we left the Trailer?
Has rust developed in these areas causing everything to become seized?

The wheel hubs completely rusted through, resulting in new suspension units, new axle, new brake shoes and cables fitted, new wheel bearings fitted.

WHAT CAN MY CAR TOW?
( Weight )
With the easing of LOCKDOWN possibly in sight, and we all want to get away, make sure the Car matches the Caravan . . .
It is vital you can legally tow, in failure to do so can lead to expensive fines ,points on your licence and can endanger you and other road users if there was an accident.
Don’t forget you are towing a heavy cargo.
Every car has a MAXIMUM MASS you can tow and this being set by the vehicle manufacturer and can be found on the vehicle VIN PLATE. Which is found under the Bonnet or on the door pillar.
1 GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT 3000kg
This is the GROSS vehicle weight – The total maximum weight of vehicle so do not load over this weight.
2 GROSS TRAIN WEIGHT 5000kg
This is the GROSS TRAIN WEIGHT – Total maximum weight of vehicle plus caravan load.
3 MAXIMUM FRONT AXLE LOAD 1500kg
This is the Maximum front axle load which may be supported by the vehicle front axle.
4 MAXIMUM REAR AXLE LOAD 1600kg
This is the Maximum Rear axle load which may be supported by the rear axle of vehicle.
If you are unable to find VIN PLATE refer to Vehicle Handbook.
CALCULATE YOUR MAXIMUM TOWING WEIGHT
To calculate the maximum weight your car can tow, all you need to do is subtract the gross vehicle weight from the gross train weight.
Example 5000kg minus 3000kg equals 2000kg. This is the absolute maximum your car can tow.
Also Remember!
The MAXIMUM TOWING WIDTH is 2.55 metres
The MAXIMUM TOWING LENGTH is 7 metres

INSTALLING MOTOR MOVERS to CARAVANS
We have been busy in the Danhire Workshops fitting Motor Movers, and questions always seem to get asked, so just to recap:-
Never cut or extend the wiring loom, this leads to the Motors to turn at different speeds, and any spare cable should be run out in straight lines and fitted correctly.
Do not wind the cables into coils as this can make them very hot and in doing so damage the modules 🙂
